hispid flagella

hispid flagella
Eukaryotic flagella with two rows of stiff protrusions (mastigonemes) at right-angles to the long axis of the shaft. In hispid flagella, the normal relationship between the direction of flagellar wave-propagation and the direction of movement is reversed; a proximal to distal wave pulls the organism forward.
